Parental behavior: a line of research in the cognitive neuroscience laboratory

Abstract

In recent years, interest has increased in the study of parental behavior and its neurobiological bases, as well as its influence on the comprehensive development of infants. However, the vast majority of these studies are carried out in Anglo-Saxon populations that are far from the social conditions in Latin American countries, including Mexico.
From this perspective, a line of research has been incorporated into the Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory to contribute to this field. This is based on the characterization of brain electroencephalographic activity and its relationship with cognitive, emotional and social aspects that underlie parental behavior.
The following lines present three of the projects that are currently being carried out in the laboratory, this with the purpose of disseminating and making visible the work of the students who have been linked to research from the undergraduate and graduate levels. As well as encouraging the university community to get involved in the area of research, not only within this line; but from any of the many that take place at the Centro Universitario del Norte. In addition to inviting them to participate in any of the studies, if they meet the inclusion criteria and thus contribute to the Science of Parenting in Mexico.
