Common talk in the north of Jalisco. Common words and expressions in the daily lives of speakers

Abstract

The following article presents a series of Spanish words and phrases that are widely known by the population of the north of the state of Jalisco, Mexico. Its use is not exclusive in this sense, since many referenced expressions may not be limited only to this territory, but are frequently used in this area. For a better guide within the writing, the words and phrases have been divided into the following categories: nouns, adjectives, verbs and phrases, under an alphabetical order that allows better location by readers. In order to have a greater foundation, in addition to taking into account the meanings provided by the speakers themselves, they are contrasted with some of the most relevant documents of the regulations of the Spanish language (authored by the Royal Spanish Academy), in addition to texts that describe and explain words and phrases under the category of Mexicanisms. It is a compilation document, arising from the contributions of the speakers themselves, their doubts regarding the origin of terms and the variety of meanings; Furthermore, it originally arises from the interest of making a small linguistic collection for those who come to this area and seek to make an interpretation for a fluid and fruitful dialogue with the hosts of this region of the state of Jalisco. This compilation is now presented as an academic contribution to the knowledge of Spanish in Western Mexico.
