Abstract
The purpose of this writing is to share a reflective exercise around the Cantinas, a physical space that men traditionally frequented at any time of the day. The rapid changes that occurred in large cities were, in one way or another, modifying the use of these establishments to the point of allowing women to enter. This exercise was supported by visits to canteens, both in urban and rural areas; Participatory observation, chatting with different people inside the canteens and documentary review gave us the elements to reflect and present this work. Finally, to give it academic support, we rely mainly on the idea of “non-places” proposed by the anthropologist Marc Augé (2000), in order to give this explanation in a theoretical way to human behavior in daily life.
